  • Volunteering

The school welcomes and encourages all parents who wish to participate in school and extracurricular activities.  It is hoped that they would wish to be involved either in responding to requests for help in school or in fundraising or social activities.

Your support is invaluable in helping us extend the teaching and learning opportunities we can offer.

In order for you to work with the children on a voluntary basis, we will need you to provide some information and documentation linked to Child Protection & Safeguarding. This documentation is listed below:

Disclosure and Barring Service certificate (DBS) checks

If you are working without supervision, for example, working with a small group of children outside the class or helping with swimming, you will need to get a DBS check. If you do not hold a DBS certificate, please contact the HR Admin Team by telephone on 01481 221993 or email hr.admin@gov.gg at Sir Charles Frossard House, who will be available to help between 9.00am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday.

Please advise the HR Admin Team at Sir Charles Frossard House that you are a volunteer at St Martin’s Primary school and you will not be charged for this service.  You will need to take with you 3 forms of ID:

    • Valid Passport
    • Valid Driving Licence
    • Birth Certificate
    • Bank Statement (within 3 months)
    • Utility Bill (within 3 months)

A DBS check will not be necessary if you volunteer on an occasional basis to help with school trips.

All voluntary helpers in school must complete Child Protection Training Level 1

This is a short online child protection course that must be completed by all voluntary helpers. It can be accessed by clicking on http://theinstitute.gov.gg/  or by typing the address into a browser. You will need to create a new account to complete the training.  Please ensure that you print out the final results page by either Ctrl P or by taking a screenshot.  Please email your screenshot to smp.office@education.gg or hand printed results in to the office at St Martin’s Primary School for our records.

    Photo ID

Please can you bring photographic identification, for example, a passport or driving licence, to show to one of the school office staff. We just need to check and record that you are who you say you are!

If you are already volunteering at school and do not have a DBS certificate or have completed your e-training, you do not have to stop helping us. Simply bring your e-training certificate to us when you have done it.
